KUNR Food Bank Volunteer Day

The Food Bank is a non-profit organization and a member of Feeding America.

To further our mission of strengthening community through human connection, KUNR’s members and staff joined the Food Bank of Northern Nevada for a service day on February 29. Over the course of two hours, 16 volunteers packaged 1,500 pounds of food for the Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP), a collaborative effort between the Food Bank and the USDA that provides monthly food boxes to seniors in need throughout our Northern Nevada community. Our staff was thrilled to provide a helping hand!

KUNR staff packing boxes of food along an assembly line with canned goods, grains and sealing the completed boxes. — Along the assembly line, cereal, grains, milk and canned goods were placed into each box. Prior to being sealed for distribution, each box was weighed for accuracy.
