Raiders Eye UNR, Local High Schools For Next Training Facility

Officials with the Oakland Raiders were in Northern Nevada yesterday scouting possible locations for the team’s future summer training facility.

Joined by Reno Mayor Hillary Schieve and Democratic candidate for governor Steve Sisolak, Raiders President Marc Badain toured the athletic facilities at the University of Nevada Reno, Procter R. Hug and Earl Wooster High Schools. 

According to advocates for the move, the region offers advantages for the team, such as the temperate weather, close proximity to northern California and a boost to the local economy.

Marc Badain says the priority is to find the best location to call home with the team in mind. "This state has been very supportive both Southern Nevada and Northern Nevada, Governor Sandoval has been a big advocate to bring some of these activities up here and we want to be good partners to the whole state."

Thirty percent of the permanent training facility for the Oakland Raiders in southern Nevada is complete, as for the summer training Facility the goal is to have it up and running in 2020 in time for the team’s first season playing in the Silver State.
