Grammar Girl: Don't Fight Language Change, Embrace It

Reno author Mignon Fogarty, a.k.a. Grammar Girl, recently gave a talk for the city’s TEDx program held at the University of Nevada, Reno. It’s the local version of the national Ted Talk program, which shares inspiring discussions from leaders across the globe. Mignon’s topic was language, of course, but instead of focusing on the rules, she highlighted some of the rule-breakers. Reno Public Radio’s Michelle Bliss joined her to learn more.

For her talk, Mignon explored how language is fluid and constantly evolving. Some people view language change as a sign of laziness or a "dumbing down" of a society, but Mignon says we must embrace those changes.

Check out the full video of her TEDx talk here.
