There’s been a lot of talk lately about transgender issues, after the recent transition of Caitlyn Jenner, formerly Bruce Jenner. There are several treatments a person receives while transitioning - such as voice therapy - in order to help them sound more like the gender they are becoming. Today on the University of Nevada School of Medicine Health Watch, we’re talking about the Trans Voice and Communication Clinic offered by the Department of Speech Pathology and Audiology at the University of Nevada, Reno. Our guests are Rachael Walden, clinical director for this department and Dr. Abbie Olszewski, assistant professor and clinical supervisor. Leading this discussion is RichelleO’Driscoll, director of public affairs for the Division of Health Sciences and School of Medicine.
