4th Annual Newton Invitational Golf Tournament

4th Annual Newton Invitational Golf Tournament

LOCAL AUTISM GOLF FUNDRAISER OFFERING A CHANCE AT $1 MILLION 4th Annual Newton Invitational Golf Tournament - Call for Sponsors and Players Reno, NV (02/18/2022) – This year’s Newton Invitational Tournament is proud to offer the inaugural MILLION DOLLAR Hole In One Challenge. Two lucky raffle ticket holders (open to all) will shoot for a hole in one to win $1 Million Dollars, and three Par 3 holes will offer registered golfers with hole in one prizes of an Oahu Hawaiian Vacation, Callaway® X Series Irons, and a 1-year supply of Omaha Steaks. On Saturday, April 30, 2022, Newton Learning Center will host its 4th Annual Newton Invitational Golf Fundraiser Tournament at 1 pm at the Washoe Golf Course. The Newton Learning Center, Nevada’s only non-profit K-12 school providing academic and social instruction for students on the upper end of the Autism Spectrum and similar disabilities is requesting help from local businesses and community members. “This is our largest, and most important fundraiser of the year,” says Newton’s school director, Rebecca “RJ” Larrieu. “Providing individualized and highly focused social and cognitive education is expensive, and unfortunately, most just cannot afford the tuition.” The school receives hundreds of calls from families each year who are desperate to find support for their children struggling in the public school setting. “We’re searching for community heroes to help us raise funds that will directly benefit our students with Autism and their families,” urged Larrieu. All proceeds from this event will directly benefit the students and families of Newton to provide critically needed financial assistance. As a 501c3 organization, Newton does not receive any local, state, or federal funding which is why this fundraiser is so important to the school and its students. Newton Learning Center is a Second Start, Inc. school, founded in 2008 to provide students diagnosed on the higher end of the Autism Spectrum and similar disabilities with a more individualized social-cognitive approach to education. With a low student to classroom staff ratio of 8:1, the program is intensive and produces results. Newton’s goal is to help develop every student’s social and academic competencies with the goal of returning back to the public school system with all the tools necessary to reach their full potential. Media is invited to attend the $1 Million Dollar Hole in One Shootout (approximately 6 pm). Requests for interviews can be scheduled prior to and on the day of the event.
