Wylder Resort Hope Valley (formerly Soresnons) continues its Eastern Sierra history series this coming Saturday June 25 at 2PM with a living history presentation, “Snowshoe Thompson-Mailman of the Sierra.” John “Snowshoe” Thompson carried the mail across the deep Sierra Nevada snow during the winter for 20 years. Carrying 80 pounds of mail over the 180-mile round trip in just 5 days on his hand-crafted snow skates (skis), with nothing more than a jacket, dried meat and matches. Thompson was a larger-than-life character, saving numerous lives, serving his community unwaveringly and devoted his life to the betterment of all.
