Robert Caples in Nevada

Robert Caples in Nevada

This event is co-sponsored by Nevada Humanities and the John and Geraldine Lilley Museum of Art.

In 1964, artist Robert Caples said, “What mattered most at all times everywhere? The desert. Pyramid Lake country and the hills around Reno.” Join the Lilley Museum of Art and Nevada Humanities as we share stories about Robert Caples and the impact he had on the arts community in Nevada.

Featured contributors include Anthony Shafton, author of The Nevada They Knew: Robert Caples and Walter Van Tilburg Clark, Dr. Debra Harry, associate professor of gender, race, and identity at the University of Nevada, Reno, and Dr. Joshua Bonde, director, Stewart Indian School Cultural Center & Museum. The conversation will be moderated by Lilley Museum Director and Chief Curator Stephanie Gibson.

Refreshments will be served. Free parking available at Brian J. Whalen Parking Complex.
