The Jacks Valley Fire is 85% contained, according to the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest. The agency says more accurate fire mapping shows the size to be 285 acres, which is smaller than what was reported overnight. The wildfire started south of Jacks Valley Road near Carson City Wednesday afternoon. Several state, federal, and local agencies responded. It prompted voluntary evacuations that were lifted Thursday morning. Jacks Valley Road has reopened.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency has approved federal funds for assisting the state of Nevada in combating the blaze, which is in Douglas County. At the time of the funding request, the fire was threatening roughly 1,000 homes in and near the Indian Hills community, along with businesses and other facilities.

According to Douglas County officials, evacuations have been lifted for areas impacted by the Jacks Valley Fire, burning south of Carson City.

Jacks Valley Road has also been reopened.

The Jacks Valley Fire is now 75% contained, according to the Humboldt Toiyabe National Forest on Twitter. The estimated size remains at 700 acres. Evacuations remain in place for: Arcadia Drive, Green Acres Drive, Cherokee Drive, Pawnee Street, and all areas south of Jacks Valley Road, north of Colma, and West of 395. There are 250 personnel on scene.

The Jacks Valley Fire, burning south of Carson City, has now grown to 700 acres with 0% containment.
Withanee Milligan, spokeswoman for the Humboldt Toiyabe National Forest, says thirteen fire agencies are on the scene with two helicopters and two airplanes making water drops.
Gusty winds are making it difficult for crews but so far no injuries or damage have been reported. The fire started at 4:30 Wednesday afternoon.
According to Douglas County, evacuations are in place for Arcadia Drive, Green Acres Drive, Cherokee Drive and Pawnee Street.
The Douglas County Senior Center at 1329 Waterloo Lane in Gardnerville is the evacuation site.
Jacks Valley Road is closed in both directions. You are asked to avoid the area and move over to let fire trucks through.

The evacuations recommended by Douglas County officials are voluntary and they are reportingthat structures are threatened.

Douglas County is reporting on Twitter that a wildfire is burning west of Jacks Valley Elementary School. Evacuations have been issued for the areas of Arcadia, Pawnee, Cherokee, Green Acres south of Jacks Valley Road. The Douglas County Community and Senior Center, located at 1329 Waterloo Lane in Gardnerville, is available as an evacuation site.
Officials are asking people in the area to leave as quickly and safely as possible.
Multiple fire agencies are responding. The U.S. Forest Service is reporting on Twitter that the fire’s size is estimated to be 30 acres with 0% containment and structure protection is in place.
