Fire crews estimate they have stopped forward progress of the Petrilla Fire, which has burned roughly 350 acres around Steamboat and Pleasant Valleys.

In a tweet, the Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District said crews will continue to work through the night to battle the blaze.

Road workers have also reopened portions of Old 395 and I-580. Northbound I-580 is fully reopened at Mt. Rose Highway, with traffic controls still in place for southbound traffic. Old 395 is open to center lane traffic only. Westbound Mt. Rose Highway has also fully reopened between Wedge Parkway and I-580. Eastbound remains closed. Drivers should drive carefully and watch for fire equipment.

NV Energy says power to roughly 4,000 customers affected by the fires should be restored around 7 p.m.

A bush fire is forcing evacuations along Rhodes Road, Cheyenne Drive and areas around UNR's Redfield Campus in south Reno. The Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District is reporting on Twitterthat the Petrilla Fire has burned about 300 acres in Steamboat Valley. There is currently no word on containment, but multiple fire crews are responding to the blaze including air support.

The county has set up a new evacuation point at Damonte High School. Large animals can evacuate to Fuji Park in Carson City.

The blaze has also shut down traffic along I-580 and Old Hwy 395 in both directions near Bowers Mansion. The intersection of Towne Road and Virginia Street is also closed until further notice. Law enforcement is asking people to stay away from the fire. TMFPD officials say spectators near Sierra Summit have impeded the crew's access to the fire.  They are asking residents to avoid Plesant Valley and Mt. Rose Hwy near the mall. Thousands of residents living near the blaze have also lost power.

NVEnergy is reporting roughly 4,000 customers without power in South Reno and Washoe Valley.
