Highly acclaimed and beloved singer-songwriter, Rita Hosking will perform on December 21 at 7:00 pm, at the historic Silver City Schoolhouse, in the final concert of the 2025 Roots Music Masters series. Accompanying Rita will be her husband and renowned dobro and banjo player, Sean Feder.
Patrons of the series are treated to an intimate and beautiful historic venue, excellent, professional sound and the finest songwriters and musicians in this series sponsored by the Silver City Preservation Society and produced by Evangeline Presents, Silver City Arts and Yellow Truck productions. There will be beer, wine, soda and snacks for sale too! All proceeds benefit the artists and the Silver City Preservation Society, a 501c3 nonprofit organization.
In a wavy world where we often struggle to swim, singer-songwriter Rita Hosking paddles up and canoes us through black holes, sinks of dirty dishes, demo-derbies, and wildfires until we’re safe at shore. She's got the spirit, and she knows how to reach ours through her grace, heart, chops, and spunk. With award-winning music spanning 9 albums and 20 years of touring, this country-folk troubadour is a heavy hitter in the Northern California and national songwriting scene.
Rita's style of country-folk has been lauded for story and sense of place, and her performances praised with capturing the audience. She hails from Hatchet Mountain -- a mountain between Montgomery Creek and Burney, CA. A descendant of Cornish miners who sang in the mines of Cornwall and Grass Valley, CA, Rita grew up with deep regard for folk music and the power of the voice. "More authenticity than you can shake a stick at," says Maverick Magazine. And, No Depression Magazine says, "Rita Hosking writes and performs authentic American folk music that stirs the soul.”
