A Reno resident recently returned from a three-month ride on her mustang around Nevada. Our reporter Bob Conrad spoke with her just after she returned.
That’s a group of people welcoming Samantha Szesciorka back to Reno after three months of her ride.
She says she’s raising awareness for wild horse adoptions. Mustangs are regularly gathered by the Bureau of Land Management when populations are deemed too large for their habitat. They end up in holding facilities if they don’t get adopted.
Szesciorka says she wants to encourage more horse adoptions and she spread that message with a lengthy ride around the top part of Nevada from August through October. It’s her second such ride and her longest.
“You feel like you’re on top of the world. You can see forever. We got up close and personal with horses, and elk, and deer, and antelope, and coyotes. For me, I’m really reminded of the value of public lands and how much of a treasure it is to have in our backyard.”
Szesciorka says she has future rides in mind but no definite plans just yet.
