Rains Help Water Supply

Reno Public Radio

The rain coupled with customer response to the drought in northern Nevada has led to good news for the water supply.

The Truckee Meadows Water Authority reports water production for May was 19 percent lower than the same month in 2013. That equals approximately half a billion gallons in saved water.

Rainstorms have increased flows in the Truckee River and the ten percent reduction in customer water use has also been a factor.

According to TMWA, the May number is being compared to 2013 because that's the last year the agency operated normally and did not ask customers to conserve water.
