Democratic Presidential Candidate Bernie Sanders held a political rally in Reno on Sunday. Reno Public Radio's Noah Glick was there.
While speaking to nearly 2,000 supporters, Bernie Sanders' message was directed toward the wealthiest Americans.
"Our message to the billionaire class is simple and straightforward: In this great country, you cannot and will not have it all," he says. "You are not going to get huge tax breaks."
Sanders says income inequality is a major problem that needs to change, and that includes raising the minimum wage to $15 an hour.
"The federal minimum wage is seven dollars and 25 cents an hour. My friends, that is a starvation wage," Sanders says. "It is not a radical socialistic idea to say that if somebody works 40 hours a week, that person should not be living in poverty."
Part of addressing this disparity, Sanders says, means providing public higher education for free and reforming the criminal justice system.
His visit comes after a slew of Republican presidential candidates campaigned throughout the state earlier this month, after the last GOP debate in Las Vegas. Sanders is currently behind democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton in Iowa polls.
