The Lassen County Sheriff’s Office issued an evacuation order Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. for the Milford area west (mountain side) of Hwy 395 from Raker Place south to the intersection of County Road A26/Garnier Road (Zones LAS-E010-A, E009-A&B, E001A). Residents in the area should leave immediately.

The Lassen County Sheriff’s Office is recommending Lassen County residents who are evacuating to check in at the American Red Cross shelter at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center in Hall #5 at 4590 S. Virginia Street in Reno, NV. The American Red Cross is requesting evacuees bring their medication and medical equipment, such as walkers and breathing machines, in addition to clothing for multiple days and any important documents, such as insurance cards.

The Lassen County Sheriff’s Office issued an evacuation warning Wednesday at 1 p.m. for the Herlong area north of County Road A25 from Long Valley Creek east to Pole Line Road (Zone LAS-E053-B).
Residents should be alert and prepared in case there are potential evacuation orders in the future; however, according to the Lassen County Sheriff’s Office, those who require assistance or have pets and livestock should leave the area now.
Officials are asking residents who are evacuating to use caution, drive with their headlights on and yield to emergency personnel. If you need assistance evacuating, you can call the Lassen County Sheriff’s Office at 530-257-6121.

Crews have made significant progress on the Dixie Fire, but risks still remain with red flag conditions in store for another day. Truckee Meadows Fire and Rescue says cooking and recreational fires with open flames are strictly prohibited.
The fire is continuing to move southeast toward the Grizzly Ridge area, and southwest winds helped push the fire about two miles northeast as well, but that progression is several miles south of Susanville. Forward progression toward Susanville has slowed and stalled over the last two weeks.
Officials issued new evacuation warnings Tuesday for the Milford Area east of Highway 395 from the Thunder Mountain Road intersection south to County Road A26/Garnier Road. This includes the south side of County road A25 east to, but not including, the Sierra Army Depot.
The Dixie Fire has burned more than 1,318 square miles (844,081 acres) and is 52% contained as of this morning.

A mandatory evacuation order was issued Tuesday at 10 a.m. in Plumas County for Beckwourth Genesee Road east through Dixie Valley Road to the Plumas County line and north to the Plumas County line. The order includes Dixie Valley and Frenchman Lake. [Zones PLU 34, PLU 37, PLU 43-A and 43-B]
According to the Plumas County Sheriff’s Office, anyone in the area should leave immediately with pets and necessary items. Officials are also encouraging evacuees to drive with their lights on and check in with their local shelter.
According to CAL FIRE, new evacuation warnings were issued by the Lassen County Sheriff’s Office Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. for the Milford and Herlong area east (lake side) of Hwy 395 from the Thunder Mountain Road intersection south to County Road A26/Garnier Road. Extreme fire behavior is forecast for today and tomorrow, as strong, gusty winds and dry conditions will challenge firefighters battling the Dixie Fire.
Crews plan to strengthen and secure lines around Grizzly Ridge all the way to Antelope Lake. Everything east of the Genesee Valley remains secure, and firefighters have added several additional containment lines between the fire and Quincy, Greenhorn and communities further south.
Additionally, progress of the blaze toward Susanville has stalled over the last several days.
As of this morning, the Dixie Fire is 48% contained.

Crews working the Dixie Fire were able to secure everything east of the Genesee Valley, and mop up operations are underway for the Taylorsville area. But, gusty winds are expected later today, which will bring increased fire danger and more smoke to western Nevada.
The Dixie Fire has burned more than 1,186 square miles, and is 48% contained.

The Dixie Fire southwest of Susanville grew by another 6,284 acres overnight, primarily in the northwestern and southeastern portions of the fire area. Crews worked to secure containment lines around structures from the Genesee Valley into the community of Taylorsville.
Many are now working on contingency lines north of Lake Davis as stronger winds are forecast for Saturday, before picking up speed Sunday.
As of this morning, the Dixie Fire is 48% contained.

The Dixie Fire grew by 3,581 acres overnight, with the blaze mostly growing in the northwestern and southeastern perimeters. Forward progress toward Susanville has been stalled for the last several days.
Shelters at the Lassen Community College in Susanville and the Springs of Hope Church in Quincy have been closed.
The Dixie Fire has burned more than 1,172 square miles and is 46% contained.

Evacuation warnings have been lifted for:
- Janesville, west of Highway 395 from the Bass Hill area south to Janesville Grade
- Janesville and Milford east of Highway 395 from the Thunder Mountain Road intersection south to the Flux Road intersection
8:45 a.m. | Aug. 26, 2021
Crews battling the Dixie Fire have been busy protecting structures in the Genesee Valley and the community of Taylorsville.
Derek Williams is the incident meterologist for the Dixie Fire. He said temperatures are expected to rise over the next few days, and conditions will get drier in the afternoons. But, the forecast isn't all bad.
"The winds do lighten up considerably on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, and that should help containment efforts at the least," he said.
Even as firefighters contain the large blazes we've already seen this year, Williams said there are more on the way.
"Well, I would say we're in it for the long haul," he said. "There's a lot of fires out there across the West."
As of this morning, The Dixie Fire has burned more than 1,167 square miles and is 45% contained.

Firefighters battling the Dixie Fire Tuesday focused on protecting the community of Taylorsville, southwest of Susanville in Indian Valley. An extensive plumbing operation took place, so residents in Taylorsville now have hose lines and running water. Today, crews on the east side are prioritizing the Grizzly Ridge area, where spot fires sparked Tuesday afternoon.
Overall, the Dixie Fire has burned more than 1,146 square miles, and is 43% contained as of this morning.
