Memory Care Facility Breaks Ground In Carson City

Prestige Care and Carson Tahoe Health recently broke ground on a new skilled nursing and memory care center in Carson City. Our contributor Brook Bentley of the Northern Nevada Business Weekly reports.

The facility, expected to open late next year, will be in a two-story, 88,000 square foot building. There will be 80 skilled nursing beds on the first floor and 54 beds for memory care assisted-living residents on the second floor.

The memory care unit will utilize a program developed by Prestige Care called Expressions. It's a holistic approach to Alzehiemer’s disease and dementia care. The goal is to enable patients to continue to enjoy life and family while keeping them safe and taking care of their basic needs.

The Carson Tahoe Care Center is a joint venture between 30-year-old Prestige Care, which is based in Vancouver, Wash., and Carson Tahoe Health, which provided the land for the project. When complete, the center will employ about 125 people.

Prestige Care has 80 other similar facilities in eight states, including two in southern Nevada.
