It is sometime in the late 1940s — or somewhere that remembers it. A couple of travelers are making their way to an intimate cabaret, where time lingers in cigarette smoke and warm amber light. Our story unfolds almost entirely in music as selections from opera and operetta flow into popular standards of the time, creating a collage of joy, longing, passion, heartbreak, nostalgia, and hope.

Living in medieval times, Lysistrata hopes to stop an upcoming Crusade battle that the men in her village seem dead set on. After hearing God’s voice, Lysistrata uses the bible (the very thing the men use to oppress the women) to get all of the women in her village to stop having sex.
