The Nevada Treasury's Middle School Essay Contest, in partnership with KCEP-FM Power 88.1, is open to all Nevada Students in sixth through eighth grade from November 1 through November 30. In celebration of Native American Heritage Month, students are encouraged to write a 250-word essay about a Native American hero they admire. This hero can be historical, cultural, or from your community. They don't have to be famous, just someone you look up to.
Students can submit their essay, along with a headshot and a short bio, by sending them to KCEPCULTUREESSAYS@GMAIL.COM or by mailing them to: KCEP Power 88Middle School Essay Contest 350 W. Washington Ave, Suite #125Las Vegas, NV 89106
For eligibility, please visit: www.power88lv.com. All Essay submissions must be emailed by 5 p.m. PST on November 30 or postmarked by no later than November 30, 2025.
The Nevada State Treasurer’s Office is celebrating students all throughout Nevada with perfect attendance. Each month, three students (Pre-K through 5th grade) will be awarded a 529 Future Path College Savings Account with $529 deposited in it.
How It Works for Students:• Come to school every day during the month.• If you have perfect attendance, your school will send the State Treasurer's Office your name.• Three winners will be randomly selected statewide each month.
How It Works for Teachers and Faculty:• At the end of each month, identify all Pre-K through 5th-grade students who achieved perfect attendance.• Email their names, grade levels, and your school’s name to: collegesavings@nevadatreasurer.gov.• Three winners will be randomly selected statewide each month.
A 529 College Savings Account is an investment account where your money grows over time; money you can use for future education costs, including tuition and textbooks.

The Damonte Ranch High School jazz program is comprised of 9th–12th grade musicians. We explore a variety of jazz styles, performing music from the early 20th Century and into the 21st Century. As part of WCSD's Signature Academy specializing in the performing arts, the DRHS jazz program strives to be on the leading edge of contemporary jazz experiences while maintaining the integrity and tradition of the American music artform.

About the EventIt's the 6th Annual Socks N’ Jacket’s Drive!
The event is free, and open to the community. Event-goers can enjoy sips, samples, and specials from local businesses, face painting, and a raffle for prizes.
The family-friendly event will also have FREE HOT COCOA AND SANTA.
Donate NEW underwear and socks along with your new or gently used jackets of all sizes to help locals in need.
All donations go to the Boy & Girls Club of Truckee Meadows and Mater Academy and will be distributed at the same time as the Thanksgiving Kit Handout for families in need.
Participating businesses include Beautiful Nails, Reno Public Market, Boys & Girls Club of Truckee Meadows, and Wells Avenue District.
