Seven education programs are receiving funding from Tesla, which is giving $1.5 million to promote STEM learning in Nevada. STEM stands for science, technology, engineering, and math. Our contributor Kaleb Roedel of the Northern Nevada Business View reports.

This initial grant is part of the company's larger commitment to contribute more than $37 million over five years to K-through-12 education in the state.

More than $400,000 will go toward establishing a robotics program at every school.

The funds will also help launch a pilot program challenging Washoe County high schoolers to design, build, and race solar powered radio-controlled cars.
