The Stacie Mathewson Behavioral Health & Addiction Institute at Renown was officially opened on November 15th.

A new Reno addiction treatment and mental health clinic has opened at Renown. KUNR contributor Kaleb Roedel of the Northern Nevada Business View has the details.

According to Renown Health, it's being funded by a donation of $6 million over the next five years from local philanthropists Charles N. and Stacie L. Mathewson.

The facility will focus on expanding community access to prevention and intervention services for mental health disorders, including alcohol and drug addiction.

It will also help improve trainings for healthcare professionals and conduct research to identify the root causes of mental illness and addiction.

For more information, visit the Northern Nevada Business View.

As a note of disclosure, Renown Health is a KUNR underwriter.

Kaleb is an award-winning journalist and KUNR’s Mountain West News Bureau reporter. His reporting covers issues related to the environment, wildlife and water in Nevada and the region.
