NHS Nevada History - On The GO!
It was Nevada in the 1900s, and the Tonopah-Goldfield boom was closing out the western mining frontier. It was also the scene for the final episode in the Earp brothers’ peacekeeping career, the last arena where they both served as lawmen. Kintop will examine their often-exaggerated activities in turn-of-the-century Nevada and set the record straight.
Jeff Kintop has worked in Nevada History for 45 years. He retired from the Nevada State Library, Archives and Public Records in 2018, where he worked for 35 years, starting as an Archives Assistant and retiring as Administrator of the Division.
Wreckless Strangers bring their signature “Bay Area Gumbo” sound to the Levitt AMP Carson City Music Series on August 2.
Wreckless Strangers have been making waves with recent milestones, including an artist spotlight at the prestigious NAMM music trade show, the release of their critically acclaimed EP Blue Sky Fantasy, and a spot on Music Connection Magazine’s Hot 100 for 2024. Currently, Wreckless Strangers are back in the studio, working on their forthcoming new album.
Wreckless Strangers is a collective of friends and musicians carrying the torch for San Francisco’s grand rock ‘n’ roll tradition. Their unique stew of Bay Area Gumbo melds the contemporary blues stylings of Bonnie Raitt and Boz Scaggs; the songwriting sensibilities of Sons of Champlin and Fleetwood Mac; the swashbuckling Americana of the Lost Planet Airmen and Peter Rowan; and the funk of Sly Stone and Tower of Power with a dash of Grateful Dead and Jefferson Airplane for flavor and unpredictability. With soaring vocal harmonies and burning instrumental improvisation, framed in concise and poignant original songwriting, Wreckless Strangers seek to honor and carry forth the brand of free-spirited musical fun and adventure that defines the Bay Area.
The band features Amber Morris on lead vocals; David Noble on lead guitar, lead vocals; Joshua Zucker on bass, vocals; Mick Hellman on drums, vocals; Rob Anderson on guitar, vocals; and special guest keyboardists. Collectively, members of Wreckless Strangers have worked with Miley Cyrus, Peter Rowan, Highway Wolf, Ismay, Boz Scaggs, Fabulous Thunderbirds, Olivia Wolf, Laurie Lewis, and more! Their latest EP, “Blue Sky Fantasy,” was produced by four-time Grammy award-winning engineer/producer Dave Way, who has worked with renowned artists including Aretha Franklin, Tracy Chapman, Prince, Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, Sheryl Crow, and many more. Blue Sky Fantasy is a sonic adventure that showcases the band’s evolution with a cohesive blend of tracks that highlight their range and artistic growth.
