Doodle Your Soul is back with their famously awesome and creative Kid's Arts & Crafts Class! Come in this Saturday from 12-3pm to enjoy creating art and take home what you make.
This is completely free, but we ask you to RSVP to make sure we have plenty of supplies.
Adult supervision is required for the duration of the class.

In partnership with California State Parks and the Nevada County Library, the monthly Sierra Speaker Series connects folks to the rich cultural and natural history of the area. Join us at Donner Memorial State Park Visitor Center to learn and engage! Doors open at 5 pm with the presentation beginning at 5:30 pm. Admission is a suggested $5 donation. Light refreshments and wines, sponsored by Highway 12 Winery, will be available. No registration required.
History Expeditions will present The Frémont Sierra Expedition 2026: a five day, 100 mile mountain journey that honors John C. Frémont’s audacious 1844 winter crossing of the Sierra Nevada and its deep connection to the Donner region and westward expansion.
The team of five veteran endurance athletes and researchers will retrace his documented route from Bridgeport through Charity Valley, Red Lake Peak, Carson Pass, and down the South Fork of the American River to Strawberry, tying a year of historical research to boots on the ground field verification.
In 1844, Frémont, guided by Kit Carson and others, rejected Chief Truckee’s recommended Truckee River–Donner Pass corridor and instead forced a desperate mid winter line over Carson Pass, enduring deep snow, starvation, and psychological strain but losing no men—a striking contrast to the Donner Party’s tragedy two years later along the Truckee–Donner route now commemorated at Donner Memorial State Park.
Their mission is to stand in that same high country to understand his decisions better, investigate unresolved mysteries such as the missing howitzer barrel and possible scientific instrument caches, document Indigenous guides’ roles, and use GPS, film, and daily journals to create a fully digitized, field verified route map and rich storytelling that allows visitors and the public to experience this survival epic and its legacy with us.

RMHC Northern Nevada invites the community to its 2026 Red Shoe Gala: “Back to the Prom” on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at the Renaissance Reno Downtown Hotel & Spa. The 2026 fall gala season for the A.V.A. Ballet Theatre opens with the classic Sleeping Beauty on September 19th and 20th at the Pioneer Center for the Performing Arts. The Reno Philharmonic Orchestra will perform the haunting score to this wonderful ballet. Re-staged and re-choreographed by Alexander Van Alstyne, Sleeping Beauty is the story of a beautiful princess who is cursed by the evil Carabosse. Professional dancers from throughout the country will star in the lead rolls along with the large cast from A.V.A. Ballet Theatre. Laura Jackson will be conducting the full orchestra.

The Saturday September 19th performance will be held at 7pm and the Sunday September 20th performance will be at 2pm. Ticket prices for adults are $32 to $65 with discounts for seniors and children. For tickets call the Pioneer Center at 775-434-1050 or on-line at pioneercenter.com. Box office hours are Monday through Friday 10am to 4pm.

A.V.A. Ballet Theatre is the resident ballet company of the Pioneer Center for the Performing Arts. They are northern Nevada's largest company under the instruction of a professional faculty with years of performing experience in renowned metropolitan ballet and production companies across the United States and Europe.

This event welcomes and encourages families to participate. Strollers are welcome on the 1 mile course. Sign up the whole family and join us for an uplifting event! Little Movers
A 6-Week Inclusive Movement & Dance Program for Toddlers (18 Months–3 Years)
Program Length: 6 Weeks
Session Length: 45 Minutes
Audience: Toddlers (18 months–3 years) with a parent, grandparent, or caregiver

Program Goals
Little Movers encourages children to:
 Build confidence through movement
 Develop balance and coordination
 Practice body awareness
 Explore rhythm and creativity
 Strengthen caregiver-child relationships
 Develop social skills through shared play
 Experience joyful movement in an inclusive environment
Every activity can be adapted for children with differing mobility, sensory,
communication, or developmental needs. There is no "right" way to participate.

A 6-week Inclusive Music Program for Toddlers (18m-4 years) and their Caregivers.

Little Rainbows Music Play celebrates every child exactly as they are. The program welcomes children of all abilities, family structures, cultures, languages, and identities. Activities are sensory-friendly, adaptable, and emphasize joyful exploration rather than performance.

Gross and fine motor skills
Confidence and creativity
