About the Event
Andy y su Orquesta Callao is a 10 member salsa music groups based in the SF Bay Area. The group was founded in 2004 by Andy Gutierrez, a singer from Peru who performed for Band Kache and Kalichin before starting his own group. Orquesta Callao is now a staple in the Bay Area salsa music scene, playing regularly in venues around the Bay Area including GlasKat, Roccapulco, and Cafe Cocomo as well as at festivals such as the Fillmore Salsa Festival. Members are Andy Gutierrez (Director & Singer), Ruby Rumbera (Singer), Aries Fuego (Singer), Sergio Duran (Percusion), Ivan Lino Montes (Percusion), Jake Jacobs (Percusion), Ryan Chesire (Percusion), Carlos Ramirez (Base), Jose Soto (Piano), Mara Fox (Brass), John (Brass), Rolf (Brass), Nathan (Brass), and more.
The group is performing from 6:30 to 9:00 PM as part of Comida & Community, our Tuesday night headline event celebrating culture, connection, and the diverse community of entrepreneurs driving Northern Nevada forward.

In this conversation between Tariku Shiferaw, Joyner/Giuffrida Artist in Residence and Erin Christovale, Hammer Museum Curator, explore the concept of mark making and its power to question, trouble, and assert physical, social, and political spaces. By naming works with songs of the African diaspora, Shiferaw connects abstraction to layered histories of movement, rhythm, and whose stories are marked or erased in the narratives of history.

A 6-Week Inclusive Creative Play & Theater Program for Toddlers (18 Months–3Years)
Program Length: 6 Weeks
Session Length: 45 Minutes
Audience: Toddlers (18 months–3 years) with a parent, grandparent, or caregiver
Program Philosophy: Little Story Makers introduces toddlers to the joy of dramatic play through imagination, movement, storytelling, music, costumes, and pretend play. At this age, theater is not about performing—it's about exploring, pretending, communicating, and building confidence. The program celebrates every child's unique way of engaging. Children may observe, participate actively, communicate nonverbally, or move freely throughout the space.
Program Goals: Children will: Build imagination and creativity Develop language and communication skills Practice social interaction Increase confidence Explore emotions safely Strengthen caregiver-child relationships Develop gross and fine motor skills Experience cooperative storytelling

Join us at the Fleischmann Planetarium and Science Center on the First Friday of each month at 6pm for an out-of-this-world combination of Art and Science. Each monthly program will feature a talented local musician, paired with a special Full-Dome program in our 360° theater.
