Insurance later in life is often assumed to be “handled,” when in reality it is frequently outdated or incomplete.

The truth is that many older adults discover coverage gaps only after a loss, a move, or a major life change. Common misconceptions include believing standard policies cover everything, that estate planning and insurance are separate issues, or that coverage does not need regular review.

This seminar examines the insurance essentials that affect older adults, including what common policies cover—and what they do not—how insurance intersects with estate and financial planning, and what should be reviewed when downsizing, moving, or transitioning to senior living.

Attendees will gain clearer understanding of what to review, what questions to ask, and how insurance decisions affect long-term protection.

The Big Red Bag Business Holiday Gifting Showcase is bringing together many of the promotional products and apparel industry’s leading manufacturers alongside local businesses and nonprofit organizations to help Northern Nevada companies discover memorable business holiday gifts for clients and employees.

While many businesses don’t begin thinking about business holiday gifts until late fall, the planning process starts much earlier. The Big Red Bag event gives business owners, executives, office managers, HR professionals, and marketing teams an opportunity to explore hundreds of business holiday gift ideas and branded apparel options before the busy holiday ordering season begins.

In addition to products from many of the industry’s premier manufacturers, attendees will discover curated Nevada-made gifts from The Flag Store, handcrafted confections from Dorinda’s Chocolates, and opportunities to connect with several local nonprofit organizations. Guests will also have the opportunity to personalize a leather keepsake at the Leather Lab while exploring exhibits throughout the afternoon.

A 6-Week Inclusive Creative Play & Theater Program for Toddlers (18 Months–3Years)
Program Length: 6 Weeks
Session Length: 45 Minutes
Audience: Toddlers (18 months–3 years) with a parent, grandparent, or caregiver
Program Philosophy: Little Story Makers introduces toddlers to the joy of dramatic play through imagination, movement, storytelling, music, costumes, and pretend play. At this age, theater is not about performing—it's about exploring, pretending, communicating, and building confidence. The program celebrates every child's unique way of engaging. Children may observe, participate actively, communicate nonverbally, or move freely throughout the space.
Program Goals: Children will: Build imagination and creativity Develop language and communication skills Practice social interaction Increase confidence Explore emotions safely Strengthen caregiver-child relationships Develop gross and fine motor skills Experience cooperative storytelling

On Saturday, September 19 from 10 AM–3 PM, Animal Ark is hosting our second annual Education Expo Community Day, featuring a full day of hands-on activities, educational stations, and local organizations coming together to celebrate wildlife, nature, and learning.

Kids get in FREE for the event! We’ll have a great lineup of participating organizations, including the Nevada Historical Society, Fleischmann Planetarium, Nevada Wildlife Federation, Northern Nevada Bird Alliance, NDOW, Great Basin Outdoor School, Cold-Blooded Critters 4-H, Wilbur D. May Museum, Washoe County Parks, Nevada Department of Agriculture, Washoe County Library, and Walker Basin Conservancy. We’ll also have local food trucks on site.

Guests will be able to explore the sanctuary while connecting with these organizations and taking part in hands-on activities designed to get kids and families excited about the natural world.

This event is also a wonderful opportunity for our community to come out and support Animal Ark following the recent fires. While we were incredibly fortunate that our animals, enclosures, and buildings were spared, the fires had a significant impact on our organization and our community. Having visitors back at the Ark means so much to us, and simply spending the day here is a great way to show your support as we continue moving forward.

Doodle Your Soul is back with their famously awesome and creative Kid's Arts & Crafts Class! Come in this Saturday from 12-3pm to enjoy creating art and take home what you make.
This is completely free, but we ask you to RSVP to make sure we have plenty of supplies.
Adult supervision is required for the duration of the class.
