Queer Culture Club: Virginia Woolf, Gender, and Modern Art at the Turn of the 20th Century

Queer Culture Club is a limited series that explores the impact of queer expression and representation in literature, film, art, and music.

Saturday, September 12: Join us for a film screening of The Hours, directed by Stephen Daldry and adapted from Michael Cunningham's Pulitzer Prize-winning novel. The movie earned Nicole Kidman a Best Actress Academy Award for her portrayal of Virginia Woolf. This film explores themes of depression and suicide.

Saturday, October 10: We will host a moderated book chat on Orlando: A Biography by Virginia Woolf. Please read the novel before attending to participate in the conversation.

Saturday, November 14: To wrap up the series there will be a crowdsourced, collaborative discussion of Virginia Woolf, the Bloomsbury Group, and modern art at the turn of the 20th Century.

Following the success of his latest Netflix special, Gabriel Iglesias: Legend of Fluffy, Iglesias announced he will bring his new THE 1976 TOUR: A FLUFFY CELEBRATION to the Reno Events Center in Reno, Nevada on October 10.

He is one of the most watched comedians on YouTube with over 2 billion views and over 34.6 million fans across social media. He was the 3rd highest grossing comedian of 2024 according to Billboard.

In partnership with the Reno-Tahoe Airport Authority, Visit Reno Tahoe's live music program at Reno-Tahoe International Airport is designed to welcome visitors arriving for Northern Nevada's iconic special events, as well as major group and sporting gatherings.

Join SPCA of Northern Nevada for **The Truth About Cats & Dogs: Understanding Behavior, Communication, & Companionship**, a FREE community seminar series presented by Certified Animal Behaviorist **Kelley Bollen, MS, CABC**.

This week is all about **dog behavior**. Kelley will take a closer look at why dogs do what they do, helping pet guardians better understand the motivations behind common canine behaviors and what our dogs may be trying to communicate.
