Catholic Charities of Northern Nevada secured a permanent location for its Sun Valley Neighborhood Center Client Choice Pantry, which allows community members to browse for the food they want.

The Food Bank of Northern Nevada will be serving free meals for kids over winter break amid a broader rise in demand for its services.

As part of their studies in human services, students at Reed High School run a free food pantry on campus.

State officials announced last week that a federal program offering expanded food aid is coming to an end.

Prices for many basic needs are up due to record-high inflation, and food was no exception. The Food Bank of Northern Nevada has been navigating lower numbers of donations while also serving an increase in clients. KUNR’s Nick Stewart talked to Jocelyn Lantrip from the food bank to learn more.

College students experiencing food insecurity now have access to fresh produce and meat on the University of Nevada, Reno campus. The food pantry, Pack Provisions, is seeing a higher number of students now due to inflation and supply issues.
