KTMB is teaming up with local composting expert Sage Tomita with Washoe County to host two workshops focused on all things composting! Discover how to get started, improve your approach, and understand why it matters in this engaging Composting 101 workshop! In true KTMB fashion, we will also discover how we can eliminate and reduce food waste at the source!
What you’ll learn:
1) Different composting methods, including backyard compost piles and the Bokashi method.
2) What can and cannot be composted per method.
3) The benefits of composting.
4) Troubleshooting methods to help you succeed.
5) Simple ways to prevent and reduce food waste.

The company is hiring for a variety of roles across production, finishing, shipping and quality. Applicants of all experience levels are encouraged to attend and will have the opportunity to meet the team, learn about available positions and interview on the spot.
The parts that leave SendCutSend's Reno floor support robotics, aerospace, distribution, agriculture, rocketry, and prototypes coming out of some of the country's most ambitious companies. With more than 500 employees and a new Reno facility on the way, the company is looking for motivated people who want to help build the future of American manufacturing.
Join Nevada Humanities and author Laura Newman for an outdoor walk and talk about how she incorporates her travels and long-distance hikes into her fiction writing. Come wend through the woods at Galena Creek Regional Park and get inspiration on using the globe as your personal muse.
During this Sagebrush to Sandstone program, participants will have the opportunity to ask questions and glean writing tips from Newman about gathering inspiration from the outdoors and how movement awakens creativity.
Space for this event is limited and registration in advance is required.

Laura Newman is the author of the short story collection The Franklin Avenue Rookery for Wayward Babies (Delphinium Press, 2022) and The Darling of the Black Rock Desert — Three Novellas of the West (Delphinium Press, 2025). Her stories have been printed in many literary magazines including The Saturday Evening Post, Literary Hub, and the Reno News & Review. She is the recipient of the 2024 University of Nevada Libraries Nevada Writers Hall of Fame Silver Pen Award.
