Estelle J. Kelsey Foundation Hands ON! Second Saturdays offers monthly free admission, hands-on art activities, storytelling, a docent-guided tour, live performances, and community collaborations. “Art Investigators” provides children the opportunity to engage with Museum staff and take a closer look at current work on view. New exhibitions, community collaborations, guest performances and monthly themes rotate in this engaging series of monthly programs.

NHS Artown - On The GO! 2025

In May 1855, a group of Mormon missionaries left Salt Lake City to establish a Mission at Las Vegas in what was then the western New Mexico Territory. They arrived at the Las Vegas site in June and began to plant crops and build a “fort” for living quarters. Almost a year later, in April 1856, they discovered lead in the Spring Mountains northwest of the Mission and near Cottonwood Springs. Why was a productive mine abandoned?

Learn about this fascinating Nevada mine with guest speaker Joe Tingley, an NHS Docent. He worked as a research geologist at the Nevada Bureau of Mining and Geology until his retirement in 2004. Tingley authored several geologic guidebooks for NBMG.

Experience the hypnotic hijinks and hilarity of HOOPLA! - a captivating blend of circus enchantment and madcap mayhem. Circus Bella offers a modern twist on one-ring circus, overflowing with heart and soul. This exhilarating 60-minute show promises to delight and astonish children of all ages in a cherished family event. Watch in awe as the vibrantly colorful Circus Bella Company, comprising a diverse troupe of acrobats, aerialists, jugglers, and clowns from the Bay Area and beyond, performs to the lively tunes of composer Rob Reich and the 6-piece Circus Bella All-Star Band. Best of all, these performances are completely FREE, ensuring a memorable experience for all.

Tickets are $100 ($90 for SSPF Park Donors) and include parking, a twilight reception with live music and heavy apps, and wine bar sponsored by Highway 12 Winery. A reservation is required.

Registration for Sierra State Parks Foundation events and activities constitutes an agreement by the registrant to use and distribute (both now and in the future) the registrant's image or voice in photographs, videos, and electronic reproductions of such events and activities by SSPF.
